Computer Aided Drafting and Design Certificate

The Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) Certificate is a one-year, multi-disciplinary program covering the core disciplines of the built environment: mechanical engineering technology, civil engineering technology, and building design technology. Students learn the fundamentals of AutoCAD, mathematics, topography, architecture, and physical sciences, developing both technical and artistic drafting skills. The program is intended to prepare graduates for entry-level roles as drafting technicians or technologists across engineering and design fields. Admission requires a high school diploma with ELA 30-1 or ELA 30-2, Math 30-1 or Math 30-2, and Physics 20, or equivalent qualifications for mature applicants aged 21 and over. The certificate is delivered at the Medicine Hat campus on a Fall intake. Graduates leave with practical CAD software skills and foundational technical knowledge applicable across mechanical, civil, and building design drafting work.
