Intermediate Accounting Certificate

The Intermediate Accounting Certificate is a one-year, stand-alone credential that builds student knowledge of accounting theory and application. It also serves as a bridge for students pursuing Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or completion of a business degree. The program incorporates work-integrated learning and emphasizes critical thinking skills applicable to professional accounting practice, moving beyond introductory bookkeeping toward more advanced financial reporting and analysis topics. It is intended for graduates of a business administration degree, diploma, or equivalent credential who have completed introductory accounting coursework such as ACCT 113 or ACCT 321. The certificate is delivered at the Medicine Hat campus on a Fall intake. Graduates are prepared for roles such as accounting technician, accounts payable or receivable clerk, CGA or CMA trainee, or bookkeeper, building on the technical foundation established in prior accounting studies.
