Sustainable Energy Systems Professional Certificate

This certificate program at Medicine Hat College trains students to identify energy inefficiencies and recommend solutions across solar, wind, electric, and natural gas systems. Coursework, identified by the SESP course prefix, builds skills in energy auditing, project management, and communicating findings to employers and clients. More than half of instructional time is delivered through on-the-job training, combining classroom study with applied field placements. The one-year program runs on a fall intake at the Medicine Hat campus and requires students to maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 to continue. The program is designed exclusively for Canadian domestic students; international students are not eligible to apply. It suits students seeking flexible, work-integrated training that builds toward employment in the sustainable energy sector while continuing to work.
