Trades - Apprenticeship in Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)

The Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) program is a Skilled Trades Ontario apprenticeship whose in-school training component is delivered at Mohawk College's Stoney Creek Campus for Skilled Trades. Registered apprentices complete 720 hours of in-class instruction, combined with 7,280 hours of on-the-job training with a sponsoring employer, for a total of 8,000 hours. Coursework covers the manufacturing, production, and maintenance needs of industry, including maintenance and repair of factory equipment and automated systems, machine fabrication theory and practice, precision measurement, metallurgy, blueprint interpretation, safety procedures, and mechanical troubleshooting. The program follows an earn-while-you-learn model combining paid on-the-job work experience with in-school training blocks delivered at the college. Graduates receive a Mohawk College Certificate and progress toward the Certificate of Qualification examination through Skilled Trades Ontario.
