This apprenticeship programme delivers the in-class training component of the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic trade at Mohawk College's Stoney Creek Campus for Skilled Trades. It follows an earn-while-you-learn model, combining employer-based on-the-job training with in-school instruction led by licensed journeypersons. In-school coursework covers operation of mechanical devices and refrigeration and air conditioning control systems, environmental and workplace safety, applied trade mathematics and science, and structured problem-solving for system diagnosis and repair. The apprenticeship totals 9,000 hours: 8,280 hours of on-the-job training with a sponsoring employer and 720 hours of in-school training at Mohawk College. Training offers are issued by the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development and registered through Skilled Trades Ontario, with multiple intakes at the Stoney Creek Campus. Graduates work as licensed mechanics servicing residential, commercial and industrial refrigeration and cooling systems.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must be registered apprentices in the Ontario Skilled Trades apprenticeship system, sponsored by an employer.
