Trades - Apprenticeship in Electrician – Construction and Maintenance Apprenticeship

Electrician – Construction and Maintenance is a Red Seal apprenticeship at Niagara College leading to a Certificate of Apprenticeship. Students learn to install, maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems in residential, commercial and industrial settings. The programme combines 1,050 hours of in-class instruction across four levels with approximately four years of paid on-the-job training as a registered apprentice, delivered in small classes that combine theory with hands-on practice in modern facilities. Completion of all four levels makes graduates eligible to write the Red Seal certification exam, recognized across Canada. Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or Grade 12 equivalency and employment in the trade with a sponsoring employer; applicants must also be at least 16 years old, have legal permission to work in Canada, and have a sponsor in Ontario. The majority of in-school tuition is subsidized by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The programme accepts intakes in the Fall, Winter and Spring.
