Overview
The Vancouver Island University - Dual Admission allows you to earn your undergraduate degree close to home. Take up to two years of classes at NIC before completing your Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science at VIU. Develop university-level research skills in NIC's discussion friendly classes, pay less tuition and qualify for entrance awards at both institutions.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Both the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science dual-admission pathways require applicants to meet Vancouver Island University's own general admission requirements, applying through either NIC or VIU while specifying the dual-admission option; the BA route includes a mature-student option for applicants who did not complete secondary school. The BSc route additionally requires a minimum B grade in Principles of Mathematics 12 as a prerequisite for the required math courses, with further high-school science courses possibly needed depending on the chosen major/minor, and caps transfer credit at 60 credits toward the VIU degree; the application deadline is March 1. The programme page sets no NIC-side academic grades of its own. International applicants must meet North Island College's own international admission requirements, which include an institution-wide English-proficiency standard (Academic IELTS 6.0 overall, minimum band 5.5 for Open Entry programs or 6.0 for Limited Entry programs, or equivalent PTE/CAEL/Cambridge/Duolingo scores).

International applicants apply through EducationPlannerBC; for the current cycle NIC has published deadlines of 1 May 2026 for September 2026 entry and 31 August 2026 for January 2027 entry, with no later 2027 intake deadline yet posted.
