Overview
Northern College's Mechanical Engineering Technician program prepares students for technical roles supporting the design, development, testing, manufacture, and maintenance of machines, tools, engines, and electronic equipment, as well as heating, piping, and ventilation systems. Graduates work across industries such as mining, oil and gas, forestry, automotive, and construction, applying hands-on skills developed through training in the college's manufacturing lab. The two-year program is delivered over four semesters and leads to an Ontario College Diploma. Coursework builds practical and theoretical knowledge in mechanical systems, drafting, materials, and manufacturing processes relevant to a range of engineering-support roles. Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with Grade 12 English at the College or University level and Grade 12 Math at the College or University level, with Grade 12 Physics recommended. International applicants must also meet Northern College's English-language proficiency requirements through an accepted test such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo.
