Overview

The course is designed to help students gain insights and skills to promote personal and professional development. Students will develop an understanding of how they manage their lives and incorporate skills to maximize their strengths and reduce the impact of less effective techniques. Students will learn about resources that are available to them and the intelligence of accessing additional support when needed. The content of this course provides students with the opportunity to lay a foundation for lifelong learning; learn to communicate effectively, build and value productive and satisfying diverse relationships and prepare for the challenges and rewards that make life meaningful.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Domestic applicants need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent with Grade 12 English at the C, U, or E level; a minimum 60% or CR grade is required to graduate. International applicants must also provide proof of a senior high school diploma or certificate, with all educational documents submitted in English, and meet Northern College's English-proficiency standard: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 79, PTE Academic 58, or Duolingo 105. Before the program starts, students must complete a rabies vaccine series or provide a protective titre at their own expense, with proof due by August 1, and purchase a basic grooming kit.

Start Date: September and January

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca; Northern College accepts applications on a rolling basis for most programs right up until a semester begins if space remains, but for its limited-enrollment competitive programs — Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Practical Nursing, Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Assistant, Veterinary Technology (Wildlife Rehabilitation), Companion Animal Physical Rehabilitation, and Medical Laboratory Technician — February 1, 2027 is the equal-consideration date for Fall 2027 entry, after which remaining seats are offered first-come, first-served or waitlisted. International applicants apply through the OCAS International Application Service and are assessed on a rolling basis; Northern publishes no fixed international application deadline. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
