Overview
NSCC's Mechanical Drafting and Design certificate teaches students to create and modify mechanical drawings for industries such as manufacturing, aerospace, shipbuilding and building construction. The one-year program builds computer-aided design (CAD) skills through building 3D models and technical drawings, while introducing manufacturing processes and modern shop equipment, including 3D printers and CNC machines. Students learn to translate design concepts into accurate technical documentation used by engineering and production teams, working from initial sketches through to finished, manufacturing-ready drawings. The program includes a mandatory field experience placement of approximately five weeks, typically unpaid, with students responsible for their own transportation and accommodation. Graduates are prepared for entry-level drafting and design roles supporting mechanical engineers and manufacturers, and international graduates are eligible to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit.

Admission Requirements: Applicants need a High School Graduation Diploma or equivalent. International applicants must also meet NSCC's country-specific secondary-school equivalency standard and its English-language proficiency requirement, met through an IELTS Academic score of 6.0 overall with no band below 6.0, a TOEFL iBT score of 4 overall with no section below 3.5, a Duolingo English Test score of 115 overall with no sub-score below 95, or a Pearson PTE Academic score of 55.
