Graphic Design is a two-year diploma program that prepares students to create visual concepts communicating ideas across media such as logos, packaging, websites, billboards, brochures and publications. Coursework covers design process and project management, typography, digital imaging, editorial design and branding, with an emphasis on developing original concepts suited to specific audiences and communication mediums. Students work collaboratively on hands-on projects in a studio environment, incorporating environmental sustainability and cultural awareness into their design work. A mandatory field experience placement, typically about five weeks and unpaid, gives students industry exposure, and a co-op work term of at least 12 weeks (420 hours) is available between the first and second year. Graduates leave with a professional portfolio, an understanding of employer expectations, and entrepreneurial skills applicable to employment, freelance work or starting a business. International graduates are eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit.
