Program details

Overview

Electro Mechanical Technician at Nova Scotia Community College is a two-year diploma preparing students to install, service and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment. Coursework applies the principles of fluid power and physics to operate industrial hydraulic and pneumatic systems, alongside instruction in welding equipment, motor control circuit design, and the installation and maintenance of a wide range of equipment used in modern industrial plants. The program combines electrical theory with mechanical systems training so graduates can troubleshoot and repair combined electro-mechanical equipment rather than a single discipline. Respirator fit testing is required, and facial hair that would interfere with a proper respirator seal is not permitted. Graduates are prepared for maintenance and technician roles across manufacturing, processing and industrial plant settings where both electrical and mechanical skills are needed to keep equipment running.
