Overview
NSCC's Industrial Mechanical certificate trains students for the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) trade, covering the installation, maintenance and repair of industrial machinery and equipment used in manufacturing and processing plants. The curriculum covers blueprint interpretation, equipment relocation and alignment, and power transmission, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, paired with hands-on practice on real industrial equipment in campus shop facilities. Students build the troubleshooting and repair skills needed to keep production machinery running safely and efficiently. The one-year program requires a minimum 90% attendance in all courses and includes a mandatory field experience placement of approximately five weeks, which is typically unpaid; students cover their own transportation and accommodation costs during the placement. Graduates are prepared to enter apprenticeship pathways and employment as industrial mechanics across manufacturing, processing and other industrial settings, and international graduates are eligible to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit.

International applicants must also meet NSCC's country-specific secondary-school equivalency standard and its English-language proficiency requirement, met through an IELTS Academic score of 6.0 overall with no band below 6.0, a TOEFL iBT score of 4 overall with no section below 3.5, a Duolingo English Test score of 115 overall with no sub-score below 95, or a Pearson PTE Academic score of 55.
