Graphic and Print Production is a two-year diploma program covering the printing, publishing and print-related media industries, an offering not available at any other post-secondary institution in Nova Scotia. Students learn current software used in signage, design, publishing and printing, and develop a working knowledge of how printing devices interact with pre-press processes, paper, toner, ink, vinyl signage and finishing technologies. Training takes place in a facility built to simulate industry conditions, using industry-standard equipment and processes, building troubleshooting skills so that finished products meet industry standards. A mandatory field experience placement, typically about five weeks and unpaid, provides workplace exposure, and a co-op work term of at least 12 weeks (420 hours) is available between the first and second year. Students may apply for industry scholarships from the Canadian Printing Industries Association. Graduates are prepared for roles in printing, publishing and related media industries. International graduates are not eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit.
