Occupational Health and Safety at Nova Scotia Community College is a two-year diploma program that trains students to develop and maintain healthy and safe workplaces. Coursework builds skills in analyzing workplace conditions and designing evidence-based interventions, preparing graduates to contribute to, and lead, occupational health and safety practice. A field experience component is a mandatory credit course, giving students the chance to apply their knowledge outside the classroom, and the program is eligible for a cooperative education placement between year one and two. Graduates are eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit. Admission requires a high school diploma plus three years of related work experience in a field such as industry, trades, health or human resources, or a diploma or undergraduate degree; applicants submit a post-secondary transcript, or a high school transcript and resume, as supporting documents. International applicants face country-specific diploma equivalency and English proficiency requirements, and seats for the current intake are available to domestic applicants only, with international applicants waitlisted.
