Overview
This Red Seal apprenticeship covers the in-class technical training for construction electricians, who design, install, inspect, repair, maintain, and eventually decommission electrical systems in residential and commercial buildings. The program totals 40 weeks across four levels of 10 weeks each, delivered full-time as day classes at either the Kelowna Trades Complex or the Vernon Trades Training Centre. Level 1 covers electrical fundamentals, DC circuits, and electromagnetism; Level 2 moves into AC fundamentals, transformers, lighting, and motor controls; Level 3 addresses three-phase systems, electrical machines, and industrial power electronics; and Level 4 consolidates the material with a comprehensive review and summative assessment before apprentices return to on-the-job training. Intakes run repeatedly through 2026 to 2028 with capacity ranging from 16 to 36 seats depending on the session. To enrol, an apprentice must already be registered with SkilledTradesBC and employed by a company with at least one qualified journeyperson electrician supervising their work hours.
