This program leads to a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) with an Entrepreneurship major over four years, delivered in-class at the North Oshawa campus, and is designed for students interested in creating and leading their own venture. Coursework covers creative idea generation, small-business management, lean venture creation and entrepreneurial finance, building broad-based management knowledge focused on the opportunities and challenges of entrepreneurship. Students in the major must complete a placement in the Faculty of Business and Information Technology incubator or an internship at an entrepreneurial start-up, an integrative experiential-learning requirement that puts classroom theory into practice. A direct-entry co-op option is available through OUAC code DCZ, offering full-time, paid work terms; the regular, non-co-op program is entered through OUAC code DBE. Students with prior post-secondary study can add co-op only after a transfer-credit assessment.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Current Ontario secondary school students must complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six 4U or 4M credits, including English (ENG4U) with a minimum average of 60 per cent, and one of Advanced Functions (MHF4U), Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U) or Mathematics of Data Management (MDM4U) with a minimum average of 60 per cent. Admission is competitive: applicants are assessed on school marks, the distribution of subjects taken, and performance in subjects relevant to the program, and possession of the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance. The most recent admission cut-off was 70 per cent, with an expected cut-off in the low 70s.
