Overview
The Neuroscience program at Ontario Tech University leads to a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree and takes an interdisciplinary approach, taught by faculty from Science, Health Science, and Social Science and Humanities. Students study the nervous system at the cellular level and examine its influence on functional circuits and behaviour at the macroscopic level, including an evolutionary and comparative perspective across different animal groups. The curriculum combines interdisciplinary coursework with hands-on laboratory learning, covering the molecular, structural, behavioural and cognitive levels of nervous system function, how pharmaceutical drugs affect the nervous system, and links between the nervous system and movement, behaviour and neurological disease. The program prepares students for further study in medicine, dentistry, optometry, physical therapy and occupational therapy. A direct-entry co-op option is available (OUAC code DSZ for the regular program, DZC for co-op), and students can extend into the five-year Bachelor of Science and Management (Honours) program for a business and management foundation alongside the science curriculum.

Admission Requirements: Current Ontario secondary school students must complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six 4U or 4M credits, including English (ENG4U), Advanced Functions (MHF4U), and two of Biology (SBI4U), Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), Chemistry (SCH4U) or Physics (SPH4U). A combined minimum 70 per cent average in prerequisite math and science courses is required; it is recommended that all four of MCV4U, SBI4U, SCH4U and SPH4U be taken. Admission is competitive and the specific average required varies from year to year; students are selected based on school marks, distribution of subjects taken and performance in subjects relevant to the program. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance. Last year's cut-off was 70 per cent, with an expected cut-off in the low 70s.
