Overview
The Software Engineering graduate program at Ontario Tech University is offered as a Master of Applied Science (MASc) or a Master of Engineering (MEng, course-based or project-based), expanding students' knowledge of software engineering through intensive coursework, projects and, for the MASc, a research thesis. The programs emphasize rigorous methods for designing software artifacts and prepare graduates for careers in research, development and advanced software engineering systems. Instruction is delivered in-class at the North Oshawa campus. The MASc is normally completed in about 24 months of full-time study, with entry in the September, January or May terms; the MEng is normally completed in about 16 months of full-time study, with entry in September or January. Applicants require a four-year honours undergraduate engineering degree in software engineering, computer science or a related engineering field from an accredited program, with a B+ average preferred for MASc applicants, who must also secure a research supervisor.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a four-year honours undergraduate engineering degree in software engineering, computer science, or another engineering degree in a relevant field from an accredited engineering program, with a minimum overall academic standing of a B (GPA of 3.0 on a 4.3 scale, or 73 to 76 per cent) in the final two full-time years; a B+ average is preferred for MASc applicants. MASc applicants must also find a professor who specializes in their desired research area and is willing to act as supervisor. Proof of English language proficiency is required for applicants whose first language is not English.
