Overview

Health Unit Clerk is a four-month, full-time certificate that prepares students for the administrative and coordination side of a health care unit. Coursework covers the roles and responsibilities of a Health Unit Clerk, including maintaining patient and unit records, processing physician orders, processing diagnostic and laboratory orders, and managing unit supplies, and includes a 240-hour clinical practicum for hands-on experience. The program is delivered at five RRC Polytech campuses across Manitoba: Notre Dame Campus in Winnipeg, and regional campuses in Selkirk, Portage la Prairie, Steinbach, and Winkler, with a part-time study option available at each location. Due to high demand, this funded program is open to Manitoba residents only; applications from non-residents are cancelled without refund of the application fee. Graduates are prepared for entry-level Health Unit Clerk roles supporting patient records and unit administration in hospitals and health care facilities.
