This one-year certificate program, delivered over eight months, prepares students without prior information technology experience for entry-level IT roles. It is delivered full-time at the Roblin Centre in Winnipeg with a September intake. Coursework covers client and server operating systems including Microsoft Windows and Linux, Cisco CCNA-aligned networking, wireless communication, Voice over IP (VoIP), and PC hardware support aligned with CompTIA A+ certification topics. The curriculum builds a general information technology knowledge base applicable to small office/home office networking environments as well as junior IT support roles in larger corporate departments. Graduates are prepared for entry-level positions such as help desk technician, network support technician, or IT support specialist in a range of business and organizational settings.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires Grade 12 graduation, or final-year enrolment with results due by 15 July for fall entry, including one credit each of Grade 12 English (40S) and Grade 12 Math (40S). Mature applicants aged 19 or older who have been out of high school for at least one year may qualify with the same course requirements. Applicants who completed three years of full-time secondary education in Canada, the US, or an ELR-exempt country in English meet the language requirement; others must submit one of RRC Polytech's approved certificate-level assessments: IELTS Academic (overall 6.0, no band below 5.5), CAEL (overall band 60), PTE (overall 54, minimum 50 per skill), or Duolingo (115 or above, minimum 95 per section).
