Disability and Community Support is a two-year diploma, with an optional one-year certificate exit point, that prepares students to support and enhance the lives of people with disabilities across homes, schools, workplaces, and community services. Students develop the knowledge, skills, and values for Direct Support Professional roles through four practicum placements: residential, employment/day, education, and a final placement. The program can be taken full-time or part-time through course-based registration, and Red River College Polytechnic offers a joint-degree pathway with the University of Winnipeg as well as credit-transfer opportunities with other universities. Recognition of Prior Learning is available for applicants with relevant experience. The program is delivered full-time and on campus at the Notre Dame Campus in Winnipeg. Graduates are prepared for direct-support and community-service roles supporting people with disabilities in residential, employment, and educational settings.
