Overview
The Management and Leadership certificate is a one-year program from SAIT's School of Business, offered in person at Main Campus or online. It develops competencies for leading teams and managing organizations, covering the application of basic financial and accounting principles, organizational behaviour, and project management theories and tools used to complete projects. The program includes a work-integrated capstone in which students collaborate on a real business challenge alongside peers from other business programs. Coursework builds skills in communication, problem-solving, and decision-making relevant to supervisory and management roles across industries. Graduates who complete select courses can apply up to nine of them toward SAIT's Business Administration diploma or Bachelor of Business Administration, giving the certificate a pathway function as well as a standalone credential. The program accepts international applicants but is not eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants educated in Canada must demonstrate English language proficiency and completion of one of the following courses or equivalents: at least 50% in English Language Arts 30-1, or at least 60% in English Language Arts 30-2, or at least 50% in SAIT COMN 220 Communication and Presentation Skills. A minimum of three years' work experience is strongly recommended; a combination of education and experience will be considered upon approval from the Academic Chair. SAIT accepts high school course equivalents for admission for applicants educated outside of Alberta. All applicants who were educated outside of Canada must demonstrate English language proficiency and provide proof they meet the program admission requirements with an international document assessment. SAIT may also accept courses completed at certain international post-secondary institutions.
