Overview
This two-year diploma prepares students to manage energy sector assets, covering contracts, leases, regulatory compliance, and accounting responsibilities specific to the oil and gas industry. Coursework includes application of business principles to energy asset management, navigating legal and regulatory frameworks, financial and accounting tasks, land asset and contract management, joint ventures, and decision-making related to well and facility assets. Learning is applied through case studies, simulations, and projects reflecting current industry practices. The program is delivered in person at the Main Campus through SAIT's MacPhail School of Energy. Graduates are prepared for roles in mineral land management, land contracts, surface land management, joint ventures, and accounting and asset management within the petroleum industry, as well as energy service companies, government, and renewable energy.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants educated in Canada must demonstrate English language proficiency and meet all of the following requirements or equivalents: at least 60% in Math 30-1 or 75% in Math 30-2; and at least 60% in English Language Arts 30-1 or 75% in English Language Arts 30-2. SAIT accepts high school course equivalents for applicants educated outside Alberta. Applicants educated outside of Canada must demonstrate English language proficiency and provide proof they meet the program's admission requirements through an international document assessment.
