Disability Support Professional is a 37-week, one-year Certificate offered by Saskatchewan Polytechnic on-campus at Prince Albert, Regina, and Saskatoon, with distance study and Centre for Continuing Education options also available. The program prepares students for roles such as community service worker, supportive living worker, educational assistant, and life enrichment worker, covering basic care skills, behavioural support and crisis prevention, disability support services, exceptionalities, human growth and development, and person-centred planning. Students complete two practicums at residential, vocational centre-based, or community-based agencies. The program starts in September. Admission requires Grade 12 completion and an English language proficiency requirement, or alternate admission through ACCUPLACER scores of 250 in Arithmetic and Reading, 245 in Writing, and 4 on the Writeplacer. A Criminal Record Check may be required for practicum access, at the applicant's cost, and international students need a co-op work permit to complete the practicum component.
