Disability Support Worker is a 37-week, one-year Certificate offered by Saskatchewan Polytechnic on-campus at Regina and Saskatoon, with distance study and Centre for Continuing Education options also available. The program prepares students for roles such as disability support worker, supportive living worker, educational assistant, and life enrichment worker, covering basic care skills, behavioural support and crisis prevention, and disability support services alongside related competencies. Students complete two practicums in community-based settings. Admission requires Grade 12 completion and an English language proficiency requirement, or alternate admission through ACCUPLACER scores of 250 in Arithmetic, 250 in Reading, 245 in Writing, and 4 on the Writeplacer. A Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search are required before the practicum, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification may also be required, and international students need a co-op work permit to complete the practicum component.
