The Fabricator-Welder program is a 34-week, on-campus certificate offered by Saskatchewan Polytechnic at its Regina and Saskatoon campuses, with a September intake. It is a dual certificate program covering industrial welding processes, metal forming, and steel fabrication, including gas metal arc, gas tungsten arc, and shielded metal arc welding, oxy-fuel processes, and plasma arc cutting. The program includes Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) welder qualification testing and a one-week work experience placement. Admission requires high school completion with Foundations of Mathematics 20, Pre-Calculus 20, or Workplace and Apprenticeship Mathematics 20, along with Saskatchewan Polytechnic's English language proficiency requirement; applicants without the standard math prerequisite may qualify via the ACCUPLACER placement test or 15 approved post-secondary credits. Admission Requirements: Admission requires high school completion with Foundations of Mathematics 20, Pre-Calculus 20, or Workplace and Apprenticeship Mathematics 20. Applicants without this credential can qualify through the ACCUPLACER placement test, with minimum scores of 250 in Arithmetic and 243 in Reading, or through 15 approved post-secondary credits. Saskatchewan Polytechnic's institution-wide English Language Requirement applies: IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with 5.0 per component, TOEFL iBT 81 overall with 19 per skill, PTE Academic 63 overall with 50 per component, Duolingo English Test 110, or CAEL 60 overall with 50 per component. Admission runs First Qualified/First Admitted, with applications opening September 1 each year for the September intake at the Regina and Saskatoon campuses.
