Overview

The Child and Youth Care program is a two-year, 75-week diploma at Saskatchewan Polytechnic that prepares students to work with children and youth at risk. Coursework covers abnormal psychology, agency administration, conflict resolution, cultural diversity, assessment and case planning, and therapeutic intervention strategies, combining classroom instruction with practicum placements. The program is delivered on campus at the Saskatoon campus. Graduates earn a diploma and are prepared for roles supporting children and youth in community, residential, and agency settings. Students complete a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search before practicum placement, and Standard First Aid and CPR Level 'C' or equivalent may be required prior to entry into a practicum. International students completing a practicum require a co-op work permit.
