The Commercial Pilot program is a 66-week diploma at Saskatchewan Polytechnic that provides a foundation in the basic principles of aviation. Ground school takes place at the Saskatoon campus, alternating with flight training delivered through partner flight schools. Graduates work toward a Commercial Pilot Licence with a multi-engine instrument rating or a single-engine instrument rating. The program begins each August at the Saskatoon campus. Admission requires Grade 12 and a Category 1 Medical Certificate from a Transport Canada-approved medical examiner, along with Saskatchewan Polytechnic's English Language Requirement. Physics 30, Pre-Calculus 20, and Foundations of Mathematics 30 are recommended. Students may also be required to complete Transport Canada's Formal Aviation Language Proficiency Demonstration, at additional cost.
