Program details

Overview

Two-year diploma at Newnham Campus teaching the fundamentals of digital and analog electronics with a foundation in computer technology and engineering software applications. Hands-on laboratory work builds practical experience alongside theoretical knowledge of electronic devices, computer programming and diagnostic techniques, with curriculum content from Keysight, Autodesk, Siemens and EXFO and course-based industry certifications such as the Keysight Basic Instrument User program. Shares a common first semester with Seneca's electronics, computer and electromechanical engineering programs; hybrid delivery with January, May and September starts.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Domestic applicants need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent; applicants who will be 19 or older by the first day of classes may instead be assessed as mature applicants, though the program's own subject prerequisites still apply. The subject prerequisites for this Diploma are Grade 12 English at the C or U level (or an equivalent course) and Grade 12 Mathematics at the C or U level, or Grade 11 Functions (MCR3U), or an equivalent course. No formal English-language test is required of domestic applicants to this program: Seneca's institution-wide policy asks for one only from applicants to master's programs, graduate certificates and the Honours Bachelor of Aviation Technology, so Canadian citizens and permanent residents may instead clear the English and/or mathematics prerequisites through Seneca's own pre-admission test. Applicants who fall short of the subject requirements are directed to Seneca's recommended upgrading options rather than being refused outright.
