Overview

Two-year diploma at Newnham Campus introducing the mechanical design and advanced manufacturing technologies used in today's manufacturing industry. Using the latest machining and design software, students progress from designing simple components to complex assemblies and gain hands-on experience with CNC milling machines, lathes and electrical discharge machining, alongside CAD/CAM and CNC programming, mould and die design, robotics and PLC programming, 3D scanning and 3D printing. Prepares graduates for aerospace, automotive and other manufacturing sectors; hybrid delivery with January and September starts.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Domestic admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or acceptance as a mature applicant, plus English at the Grade 12 C or U level and Mathematics at Grade 12 C or U or Grade 11 Functions (MCR3U), or equivalent courses. Canadian citizens and permanent residents short of the English and/or mathematics prerequisites may instead qualify by passing Seneca's pre-admission test, and the college directs applicants who do not meet the subject requirements to upgrading options. International applicants must additionally meet Seneca's own published English-language requirement, with further documents or assessments requested where needed; neither this program's page nor its admission-requirements page states an IELTS, TOEFL, or other numeric test score, or a minimum grade average for this diploma.

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) apply through OntarioColleges.ca. For the September 2027 intake, OCAS opens for applications on 1 October 2026, the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, first offers go out from 1 November 2026, and the earliest confirmation deadline is 1 May 2027 with a CAD 200 deposit due the second Wednesday of June 2027. The January 2027 and May 2027 intakes opened on 1 October 2025 and carry no equal-consideration date, with earliest confirmation deadlines of 1 November 2025 and 1 March 2027. International applicants apply directly to Seneca, are assessed on a rolling basis with no fixed closing date, and are admitted up to the first day of classes or until a program fills, whichever comes first. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
