Overview
This two-year diploma program is the first of its kind in the GTA. It is uniquely designed to meet the growing need for enhanced workplace health and safety in every industry. You will develop strong foundational knowledge in health and safety to identify, manage and assess risks in various workplace settings. This program will also focus on the policies and procedures in the care and prevention practice. You will apply concepts and theories with practical experience in field placements and graduate with the skills needed to identify and report on safety and health conditions in the workplace.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Domestic applicants need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or admission as a mature applicant; Seneca's institution-wide policy requires mature applicants to certificate, diploma and advanced diploma programs to be 19 years old by the first day of scheduled classes, which waives the OSSD but not the program's own subject prerequisites. The stated subject requirements are English at the Grade 12 C or U level (or an equivalent course) and Chemistry at Grade 12 C or Grade 11 U, or Biology at Grade 11 C or U, or an equivalent course. Canadian citizens and permanent residents can satisfy the English requirement by passing Seneca's pre-admission test instead of an external exam; a formal English test such as IELTS or TOEFL is asked of domestic applicants only for master's programs, graduate certificates and the Honours Bachelor of Aviation Technology. Seneca recommends upgrading courses for applicants who do not meet the academic subject requirements before they apply. International applicants apply directly to Seneca, are assessed on a rolling basis with no fixed closing date, and are admitted up to the first day of classes or until a program fills, whichever comes first.
