This three-year DEC prepares paramedic ambulance technicians to assess patients and deliver emergency pre-hospital care. Students develop clinical reasoning and judgment to evaluate the severity of injury or illness and determine appropriate care, and learn to administer emergency treatments including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, intubation, immobilization, oxygen administration, and medication under established protocols. Training includes patient-condition co-evaluation with clinical nurses, interdisciplinary collaboration with healthcare and emergency-response personnel, and safe transport of patients to appropriate care facilities. Practical training takes place in a simulated living-environment facility and through high-fidelity mannequin simulations that mirror real emergency scenarios. Graduates are prepared to work as ambulance technicians providing first-response emergency medical care. Because the role involves operating an ambulance, students must hold a class 4A or 5 driver's licence before the end of the fifth session, in addition to standard health-placement requirements including proof of vaccination.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Diploma of Secondary Studies (DES). A class 4A or 5 driver's licence is required before the end of the fifth session. Proof of primary vaccination is required for placement in public-health-related settings. Selection is based on the applicant's academic record (dossier scolaire). Applicants who did not previously study in French must pass the SRASL Test de français à l'admission (French entry test), unless exempt as a prior francophone-Canadian student, a French or Belgian citizen, or a holder of a recognized French test result meeting the institution's minimum threshold.
