Overview
Mechanical Engineering Technology – Design is an Ontario College Advanced Diploma delivered over six academic semesters, with two 12-month paid co-op work terms integrated into the program schedule. The curriculum covers mechanical design, advanced manufacturing, and simulation for applications in aerospace, energy, automotive, biotechnology, robotics, and building-facilities sectors, including advanced CAD/CAM, simulation, automation, HVAC, virtual reality, robotics, additive manufacturing, and AI-assisted design analysis. Students complete co-op work terms with industry partners to gain applied experience alongside classroom and laboratory instruction. Graduates complete the academic requirements for personal certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) and may transfer into the third year of Sheridan's Honours Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, including One English, Grade 12 (ENG4C or ENG4U) and One Math, Grade 12 (U) or Math Grade 12 Mathematics for College Technology (MCT4C), Math Grade 11 Functions (MCR3U), or Functions and Applications (MCF3M), or mature student status. Applicants who do not meet these requirements may be invited to complete pre-admission tests in mathematics and English, requiring a minimum grade of 60% in both. Non-native English speakers must satisfy Sheridan's English proficiency requirements.
