Overview
Behavioural Neuroscience is a major leading to a Bachelor of Science, jointly offered by the Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology in the Faculty of Science and the Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The program combines coursework in biology, physiology, kinesiology, and psychology, and is described by the university as the only program of its kind in British Columbia. Students complete 120 units in total: 58 lower-division units covering biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, psychology, and biomedical physiology and kinesiology, and 45 upper-division units, including at least 22 units in biomedical physiology and kinesiology and at least 21 units in psychology. A cumulative grade point average of at least 2.20 is required to continue in the major. Admission requires five approved Grade 12 courses, including English Studies 12 with a minimum grade of 70 percent, Pre-Calculus 12, and at least two of Anatomy and Physiology 12, Calculus 12, Chemistry 12, or Physics 12. Courses are delivered in person, with lecture and laboratory components at the Burnaby and Surrey campuses.

Admission Requirements: BC high school applicants (Fall 2026 and later) must graduate high school with a minimum of five approved academic Grade 12 courses, including English Studies 12 or equivalent with a minimum grade of 70 percent in Language Arts 11, English 12, or equivalent. Required Grade 11 courses include two of Chemistry 11, Life Sciences 11, or Physics 11. Required Grade 12 courses include one English course (Studies or First Peoples 12), Pre-Calculus 12, and at least two of Anatomy and Physiology 12, Calculus 12, Chemistry 12, or Physics 12.
