The Environmental Education minor, offered by the Faculty of Education, develops skills in environmental and outdoor education for kindergarten through grade 12 settings, including the organization and operation of residential and day-centre outdoor education, wilderness outdoor recreation, and other interdisciplinary environmental school programs. Students complete nine lower-division units chosen from courses such as Social Issues in Education, Our World: Introducing Human Geography, Earth Systems, and People, Place, Society, followed by a minimum of 15 upper-division units built around Environmental Education (an 8-unit course) plus at least two further courses selected from options including Invertebrate Biology, Plant Biology, Indigenous Knowledges, Languages, and Cultures, and various Designs for Learning courses. The minor is completed alongside a bachelor's degree, most commonly a Bachelor of Education, and does not carry separate admission requirements beyond those of the student's primary program.
