Overview
The Bachelor of Arts Degree in History focuses on how to see the big picture of how and why things have changed over time. You'll learn about everything that humans do, from politics to sexuality to religion to work to war to social movements to science, and beyond. Studying History gives you the ability to make sense of a changing world. Upon graduation, you'll be prepared for careers such as archivist, conservator, diplomat, journalist, curator, policy analyst, and more, or for further education.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry from a BC secondary school requires at least five approved Grade 12 courses, including English Studies 12 (or English First Peoples 12) at a minimum of 70%, plus SFU's general English-language and quantitative/analytical skills requirements. Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences prerequisites for History add one Grade 12 science-or-math course, one social-studies course such as 20th Century World History 12, and one further List A course (a language 12 or additional approved subject); equivalent AP or IB courses may substitute. The program adds no History-specific prerequisite beyond these university-wide requirements.
