SFU Continuing Studies' certificate trains practitioners to plan, run and interpret evaluations of programs tackling complex social, economic and environmental problems, using transformative and culturally responsive approaches that make room for multiple ways of knowing, including Indigenous ways of knowing. Six part-time online courses move from the evaluation landscape and complexity thinking through evaluative leadership, evaluation design and data analysis to a capstone in which students apply the methods to their own practice. Live intensive sessions are combined with self-paced study, and a Program Elder mentors the cohort. It suits professional evaluators, program managers, grant-makers and organizational leaders.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to this Continuing Studies certificate requires completion of Grade 12 or its equivalent; mature students who do not meet that bar may qualify instead with at least five years of appropriate relevant experience. The program follows SFU Continuing Studies' general English Language Recommendations rather than publishing its own test-score threshold on the program page, so applicants whose first language is not English should confirm current proficiency expectations with the Continuing Studies office before registering. No portfolio, interview, minimum grade average, or work-experience mandate is stated beyond the mature-student pathway above. Courses may be taken individually with no fixed application deadline, and admission to the full certificate can be sought at any time.
