Professional Kinesiology Certificate

Admission Requirements: Formal admission to the certificate requires submission of a completed program approval form to the Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology (BPK) academic advisor after the student has been admitted to SFU. Required coursework spans BPK 110, BPK 143, BPK 180W, BPK 241, BPK 303, BPK 310, BPK 326, BPK 340 and BPK 343, plus one elective from BPK 405, BPK 443 or BPK 481, with course-level prerequisites including BPK 142, BPK 201, BPK 205, MBB 201 and a statistics course such as STAT 201; a grade of C- or better is required in every required and prerequisite course, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 is required for graduation. Candidates must also hold a bachelor's degree in kinesiology (or have completed its graduation requirements), current CPR and First Aid certification, BC Association of Kinesiologists membership, an external personal-training certification, and eight months of related co-operative education. Certificate units cannot be applied to another SFU certificate or diploma at the same time.
