A two-year, full-time MPP that pairs coursework in political science, economics, and data-driven policy evaluation with a co-op work-term placement and a capstone project. The cohort-based program tackles issues such as climate change, inequality, and global governance, and an alumni survey spanning 2007 to 2023 found 90% of graduates employed within a year, working across Indigenous governance, the public sector, health authorities, and nonprofits.

Admission Requirements: The School of Public Policy's FAQ states the academic background it accepts rather than a single subject requirement: past cohorts have come from Indigenous studies, international studies, political science, economics, history, geography, sociology, gender and women's studies, labour studies, law, engineering, nursing, and the hard sciences, and the FAQ notes an applicant may still apply in rare cases even short of the GPA requirement given strong relevant experience, without quoting the figure itself; SFU's general graduate minimum of a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on SFU's 4.33 scale, or 3.33 on the last 60 units applies. English-language proof follows the general SFU standard (IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no section below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 90 overall with no section below 20, Duolingo English Test 125 overall with no section below 105, PTE Academic 65 overall with no section below 60, or CAEL 70 overall with no section below 60), waived for applicants who completed a degree taught and examined in English in a country where English is the primary language. The GRE is required only from applicants without a degree from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, or Australia. No work-experience minimum is set; the program welcomes both new graduates and mid-career professionals, admitting one cohort each September.
