Overview
The Public Policy minor (PPM) at Simon Fraser University is an interdisciplinary program that gives students applied public-policy analysis skills through core courses, complementary electives, and hands-on components such as co-op placements, policy briefings, and BC Priorities projects. Coursework is designed to build the core skills needed for careers as researchers, analysts, project managers, and policy advisors, and draws on complementary courses from criminology, economics, labour studies, international studies, philosophy, and political science. The minor requires 30 units in total, including at least 16 upper-division units, made up of three lower-division core courses (PLCY 100, an economics course, and a policy-introduction course), two upper-division core courses (PLCY 300 and PLCY 400), and remaining units from an approved elective list. Courses are delivered in person at the Burnaby and Vancouver campuses. The minor is offered through the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and prepares students for public, private, and not-for-profit policy roles.

Admission Requirements: Students may declare the Public Policy minor once they have completed the required lower-division core courses and achieved a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.0. Only courses completed with a grade of C- or higher count toward the minor's requirements.
