Overview

Open to those who already hold a bachelor's degree in a field other than criminology, this postgraduate diploma broadens their knowledge of the discipline and allows them to pursue individual interests within specific areas of criminology.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: The Criminology Post-Baccalaureate Diploma requires a completed bachelor's degree in a discipline other than criminology, and applicants must meet SFU's standard undergraduate admission deadlines, submitting application forms and official transcripts to Student Services. After university admission, applicants must apply separately, in writing, to the School of Criminology's advisor to have the diploma program formally declared. Once enrolled, students must maintain a 2.25 cumulative grade point average to remain eligible for upper-division criminology courses, and a minimum 2.5 grade point average on courses applied toward the diploma is required to graduate. No specific language-test scores, portfolio, or interview requirements are stated on the program page; because entry requires a prior bachelor's degree, English-language proficiency for admission follows SFU's general scale (e.g. IELTS Academic 6.5 overall, no band below 6.0).

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through EducationPlannerBC, with one set of dates per applicant type rather than by citizenship. Spring 2027 entry runs 1 July to 15 September 2026, and Summer 2027 entry runs 1 December 2026 to 15 January 2027. Admission documents are generally due 28 February 2027 (Fall) and offers must be accepted by 1 May.
