Overview

This graduate diploma (DESS) in clinical criminology is a 30-credit, second-cycle professional program delivered on campus at UQO's Gatineau campus, with admission in the Fall term. The program provides specialized theoretical and applied knowledge for professional practice in criminology, preparing graduates to mobilize criminological knowledge in clinical and correctional settings. Students learn to analyze the needs of offender populations, understand and apply actuarial risk-assessment tools, and design and implement individual and group interventions. The program also emphasizes the development of reflective professional practice, and is aimed at graduates in psychology, psychoeducation, criminology, social work, or related helping professions who want to specialize in clinical work with justice-involved populations. Coursework combines theoretical study with applied clinical training relevant to correctional, community, and forensic mental health settings.
