Overview
This Bachelor of Business Administration program at St. Francis Xavier University's Gerald Schwartz School of Business focuses on marketing, delivered in person on the Antigonish campus. The curriculum provides a foundation in marketing theory and practice through courses in consumer behaviour, marketing management, professional sales, and business ethics, with further opportunities to study social media marketing, digital marketing, mobile commerce, and analytics. Learning is supported by case studies, hands-on exercises, simulations, company visits, and real-world projects. As with other Schwartz School majors, students complete core business courses shared across disciplines in the first and second year before specializing. The program addresses the range of activities marketing professionals may be involved in, including new product development, data analysis, demand strategy, content creation, and relationship management, using tools such as analytical software, social media, and mobile technologies. It suits students interested in understanding consumers and communicating value to them, across for-profit, non-profit, and public-sector organizations. Graduates have pursued further credentials such as the Chartered Marketer designation, an MBA in Marketing, an MSc in Digital and Social Media Marketing, or law degrees. Career paths associated with the program include advertising and professional sales, brand management, digital marketing and analytics, fundraising, social media marketing and analytics, and sports marketing.
