Trades - Apprenticeship in Welder Apprenticeship

The Welder Apprenticeship at St. Lawrence College delivers the in-school study portion of the Ontario 456A apprenticeship program for students already registered and working in the welding trade. Training is organized into three levels of in-school blocks, Level 1 running 10 weeks, Level 2 running 6 weeks, and Level 3 running 8 weeks, delivered in person at the Cornwall campus and combined with required on-the-job practical components with a sponsoring employer. Apprentices must be sponsored by an employer and registered with Ontario's Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development before beginning the in-school levels. The program is funded in part by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. On completing all three levels and the required on-the-job hours, apprentices may challenge Canadian Welding Bureau certification in the welding trade.
