Overview

The Nutrition major at McGill's School of Human Nutrition covers the science of human nutrition and food, with coursework in biochemistry, physiology, statistics, genetics, and food chemistry. Students choose a concentration from Food Function and Safety, Global Nutrition, Metabolism Health and Disease, or Sports Nutrition, and take part in research, field studies, and internships. Sample courses include Metabolic Endocrinology, Introduction to Food Science, Food Fundamentals, and Emerging Issues in Nutrition. The major does not lead to professional licensure as a dietitian or nutritionist but prepares students for graduate studies or professional programs such as medicine.
