BA/BS in Psychology

This program examines the scientific study of the mind, human experience, and behaviour, covering physiological psychology, perception, learning, cognition, developmental psychology, personality, social psychology, abnormal psychology, and the research methods used to study them. The Bachelor of Arts is offered as a three-year, four-year, or four-year Honours degree, housed within the Faculty of Arts; a Minor in Psychology is available for students majoring in another subject, and a Certificate of Applied Psychology adds a work-integrated learning component. The Honours route is recommended for students planning to pursue graduate study in psychology. Students have opportunities to take part in psychological research, work with faculty on research projects, and attend departmental seminars, building research experience alongside coursework. The program suits students drawn to the scientific side of understanding behaviour and mental processes, and is positioned in particular to prepare Honours graduates for competitive entry into graduate psychology programs, while the standard and Applied Psychology routes offer broader undergraduate study of the discipline.
