Global Development Studies at Trent University is an interdisciplinary program examining societies and cultures undergoing rapid change, along with the complex global relations shaping issues such as agriculture, the environment, economic development, identity, and human rights. The curriculum draws on ten participating departments, including Anthropology, Cultural Studies, Economics, Environmental & Resource Science/Studies, Gender & Social Justice, Geography, History, Indigenous Studies, Political Studies, and Sociology. Students can gain international field experience through programs such as Trent in Ghana or Trent in Bolivia, including an optional 10- to 12-week extended field placement with a development organization. As a General-credential program, this degree is available only as a joint-major, combining Global Development Studies with a second discipline, and requires 15.0 credits completed over three years of full-time study; an Honours option is also available as either a single or joint major. Graduates are prepared for work or further study in international development, policy, and community-based organizations.
