Overview
Anthropology at Trent University is a Bachelor of Arts (General) program studying human cultural, behavioural, and biological variability across four integrated subfields: archaeology, linguistic anthropology, biological anthropology, and cultural anthropology. Archaeologists examine the material remains of past societies to explain patterns of cultural behaviour and change; linguists study languages in relation to society and culture; biological anthropologists investigate human evolution, growth, and development in relation to environmental, genetic, and cultural factors; and cultural anthropologists document the ways of life and beliefs of living communities worldwide. The program emphasizes human variability and how individuals, communities, and societies relate to each other from local to global scales, in both past and present contexts. Students planning to take upper-year archaeology courses are encouraged to complete ANTH 2121H and 2122H, prerequisites for many upper-year archaeology courses. Through Trent's Study Abroad Exchange Program, students may spend a semester or year at Galen University in Belize, taking courses for credit toward their degree.

Admission Requirements: General admission requirement for Ontario secondary school applicants (required for all Trent University undergraduate programs unless a program states otherwise): ENG4U and five additional U or M courses. A minimum average of 70% on courses considered for admission is required for admission to Trent University, with a minimum grade of 60% required in English.
