Trent University's Sociology program (BA.SOCI) leads to a Bachelor of Arts, General, and gives students theories, research skills, and factual grounding for critically examining social conditions and change. Building on a shared core of theory and research-methods courses, the program offers coursework in social inequality, culture, deviance, criminal justice, gender and sexuality, work, migration, race and ethnicity, health and illness, and aging. The single-major General program requires 15.0 credits, including SOCI 1001H, 1002H, 2110H, 2151H, and 3151H, a further course from SOCI 3100H or 3111H, and additional Sociology credits at and beyond the 3000 level, plus university-wide degree requirements. A pass in SOCI 1001H and 60% or higher in SOCI 1002H is required before students can take upper-level Sociology courses. 3000-level courses require 5.0 completed university credits including 1.0 in Sociology at the 2000 level; 4000-level courses require 10.0 completed credits with specified prerequisites.
